For the past several months, one of the most exciting regular features we’ve provided on the Argentus blog is our Supply Chain Executive Interview series. We’ve interviewed executives and thought leaders from all corners of the discipline in Canada about issues of talent, hiring, the field’s development and, well, just about every relevant Supply Chain question we could think of. We’ve interviewed everyone from a rising star in the retail industry, a Procurement expert with a diversity of leadership experience internationally. We’ve spoken with Procurement’s CPO Emeritus, a sustainability guru, an educator in the field, a logistics leader, an eCommerce executive on the forefront of the retail analytics revolution, and the list goes on and on.

What we’re looking to get to the heart of with these interviews is: 

What does the Supply Chain field look like today, and where is it going?

But beyond that, there’s another thing we’re looking to answer for our readers, whether they’re junior people in the field, companies looking to hire, or just other interested parties: What makes these people tick?

What is it that makes them so passionate about a field that, in the wider, layman world, is too-often seen as either transactional or not “sexy” enough to warrant much attention, if it’s discussed at all? What drives them?

We couldn’t help but notice, in our interview series so far, that today’s Supply Chain leaders are anything but mundane. They’re colourful, engaging speakers who have risen to the top of their fields through grit and proactive action, through the combination of a strategic mindset and strong opinions. They understand why Supply Chain Management is a vital strategic opportunity to keep organizations competitive, and they’re willing to advocate for why.
