Today Argentus is working with a brand new client on a great Procurement management role in B.C. This client (industry confidential) is a leader in their product category, servicing a variety of clients across diverse industries. Today, they have reached out to Argentus to source a Purchasing Manager!
Working out of the company’s office in the lower mainland, BC, this Purchasing Manager will take on leadership of procurement, vendor management and inventory management for the company’s operations. Leading a small team, this individual will work to develop relationships with vendors, both for equipment and raw materials as well as for logistics and freight services. You will oversee the development of new sources of supply, working to onboard new vendors, while also managing existing vendor performance through a variety of KPIs. You will manage the inventory for equipment and other raw materials, including aged or obsolete inventory, inventory substitutions, new inventory releases, and inventory returns—all with the goal of reducing financial risk from excess inventory, while also ensuring that inventory meets production needs. In addition, you will work with a variety of freight vendors, and manage cross-border LTL freight and freight claims management.
For this role, the successful candidate needs to have at least 5+ years of procurement experience, including experience managing freight suppliers and suppliers of equipment and raw materials. Experience managing inventory is a must for this role, as is a strong understanding of cross-border LTL freight, customs & CUSMA requirements.
