Argentus has been retained by Chantier Davie Canada Inc. to conduct a search for three senior supply chain leadership opportunities at their Quebec City shipyard. Davie has recently begun building Canada’s new Icebreaker fleet as part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, and they’re bolstering their supply chain leadership team to deliver excellence in all aspects of the end-to-end supply chain as part of the project. In this case, they’re hiring for a Director — Specialized Procurement Equipment and Subcontracts!
This Director-level Procurement role will work out of the company’s Quebec City shipyard, with a mandate to effectively procure major equipment and subcontracts for the company’s shipbuilding, repair and conversion operations. In this role, the successful candidate will manage a portfolio of major equipment categories including generators, engines, power systems, navigation systems, major sub-assemblies, and other complex, highly engineered equipment. You will manage these high-value procurement projects from end-to-end, developing an overall sourcing strategy for the category, and then executing these projects including supplier research and evaluation, bid preparation, negotiation and contracting. You will work closely with a variety of leadership and internal stakeholders including contract management and legal to develop sophisticated, strategic contracts for the assigned projects, and execute those contracts, using strong vendor management skills to ensure that vendor performance and timelines are met as projects continue, and managing quality inspections, factory acceptance, and other verification activities associated with the projects. In addition, you will manage the departmental budget and lead a team of supply chain specialists and subcontract managers, coaching and developing them to success and helping build the sourcing function as a centre of excellence within the organization.

The successful candidate needs to have 10+ years of strategic procurement experience for complex equipment packages and subcontracts in the Marine, Aerospace, Mining, Transportation, Oil & Gas, and/or Heavy Engineering industries, with a track record of successful strategic procurement for high-value equipment contracts, as well as experience managing a very large annual spend volume. Experience leading a procurement team is also a must. French/English bilingualism is a significant asset for this role, as you’ll be interacting with suppliers, customers and other partners both inside and outside of Quebec.
