As part of this effort, they’ve tapped Argentus to source a true leader to lead the Procurement function: a Director of Strategic Sourcing!
Working out of the company’s Mississauga, ON facility and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this Director of Strategic Sourcing will lead the company’s strategic sourcing group to develop procurement processes and strategy, develop and execute supplier relationship management programs, and execute on a variety of large-scale, complex, high-value projects for construction and capital expenditure (CapEx). With an emphasis on infrastructure, this Director will provide overall procurement leadership for construction, expansion and maintenance of the organization’s assets, and align procurement’s strategies with the company’s overall business objectives. You will work to develop new supplier relationships, and enhance existing supplier relationships, delivering cost improvements and innovation while minimizing risk.
You will act as a procurement subject matter expert for leadership in the organization, identifying and executing on ways to improve procurement processes, and implement continuous improvement and change management projects. In addition, you will work to develop strategic sourcing best practices, and implement training programs as you coach and mentor the procurement team, continuing to build the function into a strategic centre of excellence within the organization.

This role is an excellent fit for a candidate with significant experience developing procurement processes and strategy, forging excellent relationships with suppliers, and managing large volumes of spend to deliver on complex, high-value Construction & CapEx projects. A mixture of public and private sector industry experience is ideal, however our client is interested in candidates with experience in industries leading procurement for large infrastructure projects. Experience managing and leading procurement teams to success, and building best practices is also a must for this role.
