Director – Material

Location:
Quebec City, QC
Industry:
Shipbuilding

Argentus has been retained by Chantier Davie Canada Inc. to conduct a search for three senior supply chain leadership opportunities at their Quebec City shipyard. Davie has recently begun building Canada’s new Icebreaker fleet as part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, and they’re bolstering their supply chain leadership team to deliver excellence in all aspects of the end-to-end supply chain as part of the project. These are potentially career-making roles for individuals with the right leadership and industry background, looking to make an impact from day one. As part of this effort, they’re hiring a Director — Material!

This individual will work out of the company’s Quebec City shipyard to lead the Materials Management function, including leading the purchasing function and storeroom for the company’s equipment and materials associated with shipbuilding, ship retrofitting and ship repair. Leading the materials management team, the incumbent will have accountability for the reception and management of material goods, as well as transactions affecting the movement of material between and within areas of the shipyard and subcontractors. You will plan the reception and movement of goods, lead assembly operations, direct all in-house manufacturing work orders, and manage programs to continuously improve performance from the perspective of safety, quality, delivery, lean, cost, and people management. In addition, this role has a strong data component as you’ll be working to manage the material teams through the implementation of a new ERP system, and also implement and enhance the use of an MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system, all with the goal of improving inventory accuracy. You will develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for suppliers, and develop strategies and programs to improve supplier performance, working to develop materials management into a key driver of strategic success for the organization.

This is a potentially career-making role for the right candidate, with the opportunity to work on fantastic projects and think big as the company accomplishes major goals. The successful candidate needs to be French/English Bilingual to communicate with a variety of internal stakeholders and teams in Quebec City, and possess 12+ years of Materials Management leadership experience within a relevant industry—Marine, Aerospace, Mining, Transportation, Oil & Gas, Industrial Manufacturing and/or Heavy Engineering. Our client is willing to offer paid relocation assistance from within Canada to Quebec City for the right candidate.
