Argentus is working with a brand new client in the Mining Industry on a major Procurement leadership role! This Canadian company has a proud history in the industry, with a track record of growth and a reputation for technical excellence. Today, they’re hiring a Director of Procurement!
Working out of the company’s Toronto, ON office, this Director of Procurement will oversee strategic purchasing for capital projects and ongoing operations to support a number of the company’s sites. Leading a diverse national Procurement team, you will work to develop and execute overall strategies for Procurement with the goal of extracting cost savings, building supplier relationships, and finding opportunities for innovation, synergy and collaboration. You will guide the team in conducting the end-to-end process for a variety of these Procurement projects, working to monitor and execute bids, evaluate supplier submissions, and lead the negotiations of contracts and service agreements with prospective suppliers. You will work closely to understand the company’s stakeholder needs, assessing optimal inventory levels across the variety of sites, as well as other KPIs, and use those to inform the Procurement process. After successful procurement events, you will also work to monitor metrics to assess supplier performance, and work to manage ongoing supplier relationships. In addition, this role has a continuous improvement component, as you’ll strive to identify areas of improvement in the company’s Procurement processes and technology to help continue to develop it into a centre of excellence within the organization.
In short, this is an impactful leadership role for a proven Procurement leader with at least 10 years of strategic Procurement experience in Operations and Capital Projects. Experience leading a significant Procurement team is a must, as is a track record of delivering cost savings, major projects, and continuous improvement initiatives in a Procurement organization.
