Today Argentus is working with one of our longstanding clients in the Food Production / Food Service industry on an impactful Procurement leadership search. This organization has a stellar track record in the industry, with a reputation for excellence in Procurement. Today, they’re seeking to add a key strategic contributor to the organization with a Director of Procurement!
This individual will work out of the company’s Vaughan, ON office on a Hybrid basis as a key leader in the organization. The successful candidate will work to develop and implement an overall category strategy for a variety of food categories (including raw materials, packaging, etc.) to support one of the company’s major well-known brands. Reporting to the VP of Procurement, you will lead a focused procurement team in delivering strong strategic sourcing within the categories, focused on minimizing cost, optimizing quality, as well as maintaining and improving the company’s overall inventory position, to maximize the effectiveness of the brand. You will work to monitor and improve supplier performance and supplier relationships, and lead the team to execute large, complex sourcing projects within the categories, working at all stages (including proposal development, supplier negotiation, contract development, onboarding, etc.) to add value. You will interface with key leaders in the organization to understand stakeholder needs, develop deep relationships with a set of strategic suppliers, and flex your procurement chops to support the overall growth of the business. This role has a strong people management component, where you’ll be working to coach, mentor and develop the category managers to success.
In short, this is an excellent Procurement leadership role for the right highly-strategic individual who is looking to step in and lead a team to success. At least 10 years of strategic Procurement experience is a requirement for this role, with at least 5 years of people management experience. Our client is specifically looking for individuals with a Food Production / Food Service / Food Manufacturing background, skilled with categories including Food, Raw Materials, Packaging, etc., although they would be willing to look at senior strategic candidates with other (direct) category experience as well — including candidates from industries including Beverages, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Pharmaceutical. The successful candidate needs to have very strong skills with supplier relationship management, process development, and continuous improvement.
