This company has a proud history in their industry, with a reputation for sustainability and development of industry-leading technologies for a suite of global customers. Today, they’re looking for a Buyer Planner!
Working out of the company’s Toronto, ON facility (in person), this Buyer Planner will take on procurement oversight for an assigned suite of commodities (in particular mechanical and electrical components) involved in manufacturing the company’s products. In this role, the successful candidate will schedule all production orders and sequences within the company’s ERP system, while also keeping track of outputs. You will participate in the selection and evaluation process for vendors, and manage purchasing with those vendors for the assigned goods, with an eye to cost savings, quality, conformance to specifications, and timelines. Working within the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), and Material Product System (MPS), you will issue purchase orders, and manage vendor performance, using strong attention to detail to maintain excellent data and flag and resolve any issues that arise. You will look to identify and eliminate any purchase price variance in the system, providing regular updates to leadership at the site, and expedite orders for manufactured and purchased parts to match the plan and avoid any shortages. In addition, in this role you will undertake research for new vendors, products, subcontractors and manufacturing partners to improve costs, improve delivery times, and find opportunities for innovation and product improvements.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong procurement and planning background within a manufacturing environment. At least 3-5 years of experience conducting purchasing for electrical and mechanical components is a must for this role, with experience managing the full procurement lifecycle, including supplier research, the bid process, supplier evaluation, and vendor management. Attention to detail, and deep analytical skills are also a requirement, as is significant experience working within ERP and MRP systems.
